Current Commercial Code

2012 IECC
Passed 3/21/2014, effective 1/1/15

Current Residential Code

2012 IECC with state-specific amendments. These amendments, especially those pertaining to the minimum allowed performance of insulation and fenestration, bring the effective results of the 2012 IECC in Idaho back to the levels contained in the 2009 codes.

Code Adoption and Change Process

Code Change Process

Updated codes are adopted every three years by the Idaho Legislature as they are revised by the International Code Council (ICC). Code amendments are adopted by the Idaho Building Code Board.

Code Change Cycle

Three-year code review cycle, concurrent with the publication of new editions of the model codes.

Next Code Update

Keeping with the historical three-year cycle, Idaho should adopt the 2015 IECC sometime in early 2018.
